“Turkish Day” Event Held in Budapest, Organized by HEPA Türkiye
Through the organization of the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) Türkiye, the “Traditional Turkish Day” event was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The event, which attracted strong interest from Hungarian companies, created new opportunities for business cooperation aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations. In 2024, bilateral trade between the two countries increased by 6% compared to the previous year, reaching a record level of USD 4.91 billion.
Organized by HEPA Türkiye, the annual “Turkish Day” event once again hosted an important platform in Budapest for enhancing economic and trade relations between Türkiye and Hungary. Bringing together prominent representatives of the Hungarian business community, the event drew significant attention from Hungarian companies aiming to enter the Turkish market. Throughout the sessions, participants exchanged views on strengthening bilateral trade, supported by economic presentations and data-driven analyses.
Opening Remarks and Emphasis on Cooperation
The opening speeches were delivered by H.E. Gülsen Karanis Ekşioğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Budapest; Ms. Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary for Foreign Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and CEO of HEPA; Mr. Suat G. Karakuş, Chairman of the DEİK Turkish–Hungarian Business Council; and Mr. Yalçın Orhon, General Manager of HEPA Türkiye.
As part of the program, Mr. Miklós Bujáky, Hungary’s Commercial Attaché in Istanbul, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the current outlook of the Turkish economy, sectoral opportunities, and potential partnerships for Hungarian companies. The event continued with a panel discussion titled “Doing Business in Türkiye”, moderated by Mr. Emre Cihad Sönmez, Country Director of HEPA Türkiye, where executives of Hungarian companies already operating in Türkiye shared their experiences.
Trade Volume Reaches USD 4.91 Billion with 6% Growth
Between 2012 and 2024, Hungary’s exports to Türkiye nearly doubled, while total bilateral trade grew by more than 210%. In 2024, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 6% compared to the previous year, reaching a record USD 4.91 billion.
These events play a crucial role in turning strategic goals into tangible business outcomes. They provide a platform for direct interaction, practical learning, and the establishment of long-term partnerships that can shape future success.
The program concluded with one-on-one meetings between participants and the HEPA Türkiye team. HEPA representatives emphasized that this year’s well-attended event once again strengthened Hungarian business interest in Türkiye and aimed to further deepen the economic partnership between the two countries.
