The exhibition “Have a Safe Journey!” sponsored by ALX Hungary was open.
The exhibition “Have a Safe Journey!” organized in cooperation with the Hungarian Science, Technology and Transportation Museum, the Koç Museum and the Hungarian Cultural Center in Istanbul was opened to visit concurrently at the Ko. Museum and the Hungarian Cultural Center.
The exhibition opening was participated by Hungarian Consul General Balâzs Hendrich, Rahmi M. Koç Museum General Manager Ertuğrul Duru, Hungarian Science, Technology and Transportation Museum Assistant General Manager Gâbor Zsigmond, Hungarian Cultural Center Manager Gâbor Fodor and, Curator Pâl Nâgyesi.
The exhibitions where you could see the unforgettable memories from the 1912 Budapest – Istanbul Tour may be visited until June 17, 2018.
Budapest – Istanbul Tour
Budapest – Istanbul Tour, the first official race of the Royalty Hungarian Automobile Club, took place in 1912. 25 racers were accredited for the race and, 19 could be able to complete the distance of about 2000 km.
Many car brands have participated in this race that started in front of the central building at the Apponyi Square (now called Ferenciek) of the Royalty Hungarian Automobile Club. Out of these brands, the representatives of the brands French DeDion-Bouton, two Puches, American Packard, German Lloyd and Rex Simplex, Italian Fiat, Belgium Minevra, French Charron, Renault and Berliet could complete the tour.
At the end of the tour, the participants selected a jury among them. Austrian Count Johannes Hardegg become the president of the jury of six people. Fifteen persons won gold medals, while three won silver medals. Apart from this, many special awards were distributed.
